From master filmmaker Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, Lady Vengeance) comes a South Korean detective thriller that won the Best Director prize at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
A major motion picture that is both morally and thematically complex, Busan-based detective Hae-joon (Park Hae-il) is the youngest officer to be promoted to Inspector in the bustling city. Living apart from his beloved wife, whom he sees on weekends to her rural seaside town, Hae-joon is called upon to investigate the mysterious death of a man who fell to his death while rock climbing. Interviewing the man’s beautiful and enigmatic wife Seo-rae (Tang Wei), Hae-joon takes an unusual interest in her.
What begins as investigation gradually shifts to obsession, threatening both his standing in the police force and what was a previously happy marriage.
