Czech artist and animator, Jan Švankmajer’s first feature is a stark contrast from the popularized Disney animation version of the story we all know and love. In this dark, surrealist interpretation, Alice chases the white rabbit into an alternate world where she is surrounded by living inanimate objects and taxidermy animals. in this strange new land, she embarks on many dangerous adventures, ultimately leading to a trial before the King and Queen of Hearts.
