Groundhog Day – 30th Anniversary!

Just in time for Wiarton Willie’s annual outing, catch up with this beloved comedy starring Bill Murray as jaded, sarcastic TV weatherman on a Groundhog Day assignment in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania who’s caught in a seemingly endless time loop.

Dismayed at first, Phil (Murray) eventually takes advantage of his situation to engage in some wacky, consequence-free hijinks. But no amount of practice can win Phil the heart of his beautiful producer Rita (Andie MacDowell), forcing Phil to reconsider his caddish ways and do some serious soul searching.

Part charming romantic comedy, part heady exploration of the terrifying monotony of existence and the possibility of achieving spiritual transcendence through self-improvement and good works, “Groundhog Day” demands to be seen over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. Whether or not Willie spots his shadow, we predict that this comedy classic will bring approximately 101 minutes of pure fun.
