Join us for our 2nd night of Joan Crawford love starring Crawford’s Grandson, Casey Lalonde! This time, Casey will share a set of personal home movies highlighting her later years and offering a narrated look into Crawford’s private life at the time. As if that wasn’t enough, we’ll also be screening one of the marquee films from Joan’s celebrated filmography.
Note: this is a different set of home movies from our July event.
About the Film:
Nicolas Ray’s psychologically complex western stars Joan at her best as a saloon owner trying to protect her friend from the noose wielded by an out-of-control lynch mob, headed up by a diabolical Mercedes McCambridge.
Sterling Hayden ably fills out the boots of the title character, who comes to help his former lover ward off the bad guys. Rich with sociopolitical commentary, Johnny Guitar is a boundary-pushing Old Hollywood classic and recognized as one of the great American films of the 1950s.
