Directed by Nora Ephron, this 1993 film stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in a story of destiny, house boats, Rosie O’Donnell, and second chances. After losing his wife, Sam (Hanks) moves to Seattle with his young son, who calls into a radio show to find his father a new love. Annie (Ryan), a journalist across the country, becomes intrigued. Unsure where it will lead, she writes Sam a letter asking him to meet her at the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day.
Based on the 1957 film, “An Affair to Remember”, this tale of two people drawn together by destiny is a Valentine’s month staple that deserves to be celebrated…in your jammies, at the theatre, eating popcorn.
